Just keep swimming.

With each day
I feel you closer.
Your breath upon my face.
and I wonder
with curious mind
about what lies ahead.
Making myself roadblocks
seems to be a hobby.
It’s a habit I want to break
into little pieces
small enough to fit into an envelope.
So I can mail them to the devil.

Each day that passes.
I learn there is more to you
than I firstly fell in love.
How can it be so?
To love someone more
than I already do.
Like swallowing the sun
and being offered the moon.

You see me stumble
doubts creep in
and still you stay
waiting for me.
“Steady there love,
it’s just a wave,
not a typhoon,
don’t let it pull you under.”

With each day I feel you closer.
Your hand beside me,
where I long to be.
Eyes confronting
while comforting me.
Telling me time and distance
are not to be feared or worried.
They are just waves,
not a typhoon.

  1. Thank you for this poem! It left me with beautiful thoughts about the ups and downs of relationships. The wording was awesome!

    Thank you!
