I don’t need beauty.

I do not need beauty.
What is beauty but a moment in the sun
warm and brilliant, but singular.
Even the sun knows the moon comes
eventually.

What is life but an endless succession
of less than perfect moments?
The dance that ended,
when the puddle interfered.
The slip and fall off a hill
right into my heart.
The less than graceful way
I twirled about the kitchen.

The messy way we interact
causing collisions
and calisthenics.
Those  endless leaps in faith
and boundless jumps in joy.

I don’t need beauty.
I already know love.
