When life gets hard it’s all about finding that one reason to keep on trying. That one reason not to give up. It could be a simple reason, like “I gotta get up and feed my cat!” You start there. You start there because that is, at least, you up out of bed and interacting with something.
That simple reason seems soo small to other people but, that reason has hope in it. That reason is another day.
I have watched a friend struggle through the most painful years of his life, and I know that simple reasons are the only things keeping you alive at points. That sometimes it’s just all too much to bear.
Don’t underestimate people’s simple reasons. Give them proper respect. Give them the honor they deserve. Those reasons might be keeping a person alive.
Today, my friend’s simple reasons have all added up until they became his big reasons to study and become a mental health counselor. He’s getting ready to be someone’s simple reason. A small voice in the darkest of holes. A small hand looking to reach out and reassure. He’ll offer them simple reasons to keep going, because he knows how much they are worth.
Don’t give up, don’t ever give up. Let these words, from someone who understands, be your reason today. Because, I might not know you, but…I know you.
You are a very important simple reason. You matter.
